We shop at AyosDito

Posted by ara in Software

As a developer, a good quality personal computer or desktop must be chosen accordingly and properly with the right specifications to meet every developer’s need. One of my friends who is also a developer is planning to buy a computer desktop.  He listed his looked-for specifications according to what he really needs. Like for the processor he wanted to avoid logs and he wants to use an application without waiting upon opening it, for the memory as a developer we really do multi tasking and opened several applications needed in the development like dreamweaver, photoshop, browsers that includes Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox, Chrome and Opera, Yahoo Messenger, Skype, Zend Studio, Acrobat and not to forget the Winamp or the Windows Media Player. Then where these projects should be store of course in a hard drive, developers really requires big spaces of Hard Drive. Then the best of all he choose the high end motherboard for future use.

ayodito

We are looking forward in online buying, buying a desktop online since it is more convenient and much cheaper. My friend introduces me to www.AyosDito.ph and there are a lot of cool gadgets especially desktops are for sale. And currently for are still looking for the desktop because there are a lot to choose from. It’s really hustle free because you can contact the seller directly. Cool.

Im Using Ubuntu 8.10

Posted by ara in Software

ubuntu 8.1

Yeah! Now I really done it! Installing Ubuntu to my laptop for second time and this time, it mean so much to me.. lol

I have an essential reason why I decided to install Ubuntu to my PC, it is because of VIRUS yeah! I don’t care if this a free or proprietary as long as it’s cater my needs. No matter how updated your anti virus is, still, spy wares and other suspicious scripts invaded my operating system, it’s Window XP i am talking about. You will just be shocked that your task manager suddenly disabled, the RUN becomes invisible and a very irritating sudden restart (grrrr). So I finally decided to use Linux since it’s an operating system that is free of virus.

You might thought that linux is hard to configure, you’re wrong! The Ubuntu 8.10 is the most user friendly OS I ever tried, it’ like a combination of the positive side of windows and mac in one interface. It’s so fast! although you will first get annoyed with package installation and terminal commands but in the long run, you will get use to it, and much prefer this way than the click next next finsh.

My most favorite feature of this Ubuntu is the Appearance, since the video card of my laptop is built in, it automatically detect by the OS and I used the extra visual effects that provides more aesthetically pleasing set of effects.COOOLLL!

I really really recommend this Operating System to all! it’s clean, its faster and virus free!

By the way, Ubuntu 8.10 is really good for new user, try it!

Because of the busy schedule we had this year, only few seminars that we can attend to, and one of it is a must I mean compulsory to one of our Subject. There are also free career orientation held on our school but because of incoming deadlines I skip to attend it, too bad I hope I am not missing any important information than submitting a project on time.

Anyway, the first seminar I attended was last July 31, 2008, I participated the IBM CSC Lecture on Project Management and Software Development Life Cycle organized by DabaweGNU Inc in partnership with the IBM Corporate Service Corps Program. The speaker on that afternoon was the IBM India Pvt Ltd. Program Manager Mr. Sreejith N. Sankarapillai and hosted by Mr. Nathaniel B. Jayme the Board of Trustee of DabaweGNU, Inc. I was so  stranger on that seminar because I think I am the only UICian student there good thing Maam Tracy Lemke the senior programmer of Callbox Davao and our trainer in our OJT, who taught me standards on coding Php was there with her loving husband. Anyway, I wasn’t able to attend the second part due to time conflict I must attend first our Literature class because we will have a quiz on that day, and I can’t skip it my grades on Literature was totally sinking! I need to bring it up,and the fee struggles me.The seminar runs smothly, it tackles more about project management, the step by step process in making a software or program and the types or kinds of Software Development Life Cycle.

Smarty

Posted by ara in Software | Web

In developing a dynamic website it’s been a huge problem for me to separate the HTML code to PHP code, but when I read the book about Ecommerce they suggested to use Smarty as a engine for making templates using PHP. It is also an opensource so no need to save money for this or illegal download.

By these, it permits the programmer and the template designer to work independently in one project.the programmer can change independently some logical changes in the code without needing to change the templates and the designer too can change the template without caring how the code that makes them alive works.

You can download Smarty here.

I really did learn something about networking from our last Saturday activity in our CCNA laboratory where we are group to create a network topology using the real routers, switches and using the Tera Term, I really did well enjoy and very lucky to have a group mate like Ate Claud a really smart ECE board passer, kuya lito from Link2Support and my batch mates and Ate Mona. Then later this afternoon, the network admin in our company, transfer their new server with the new routers and switches to the new room, as for the developers its rest time because the server will be down. I am really happy to be with them again in the networking area. Oh! My! I was shock when I saw I think six server like proxy servers, VPN, asterisk and etc., though it is so hard to connect what they doing because there are a lot of cables(though it is in color coding) including the data and voice cables, the console cables and other Ethernet cables. In configuration, my! Nosebleed! Configuring the server using FEDORA Linux operating system (asterisk -r …), bow for Sir Ogie and Sir Ken.

I need to learn first JavaScript and then AJAX. My mind was twirling when our software head told me to make this functionality using JavaScript and AJAX.This language is really indeed very useful in developing websites.

By the way, if you are looking for a Job, wanted to be a call center agent and you are good in communication skills, apply now at Callbox, 9th floor Landco Bldg Davao City. They still need more agents. (One of our HR assistant told me to spread it to everyone).

Here are some of our memorable moments:

Packet Tracer

Posted by ara in Networks | Software

Practice really makes perfect.
Networking is not just an run of the mill subject like programming, you really need to analyze, read and etc. (And that’s’ how I hate it, but though I love it too)
And finally I was able to simulate the network topology in our last exam…here… Good Luck for our exam tomorrow.
Honestly, though Packet tracer is complicated, but to some extent it is cool!

Also, If you want to see how bad I am in animation view my last project in our CGA, I made for 1 day just to catch with the deadline because we are super busy last week. The instruction is . Submit two intro movies for the UIC website, one 30 second movie and one 1 minute movie. ANd here’s mine 30s and 1 min. (some of the animation there were from tutorials(I only follow the instructions not my creativity :( ), and I know the music are the worst ever..lol!)

Koha is feature-rich but the core features are, and always will be:

  • a library catalogue front end/OPAC
  • a library system intranet
  • a circulation tracking system
  • an acquisitions/budgeting system

Koha was developed in 1999 by a small team of programmers working for a consulting company in New Zealand to address the needs of a small library branch on the island because their vendor-supplied ILS was outmoded and not Y2K compliant. more
